QR codes ready to print and scan

This free QR code generator makes codes for your website, your WhatsApp, the guest Wi-Fi, your contact card or an event. Add your logo and colors and download them in high resolution. They never expire and don't go through third-party servers.

01How it works

Three steps and done

  1. 01

    Pick what to share

A link, WhatsApp with a ready-made message, Wi-Fi, a contact card, email, SMS, text, a location or a calendar event.

  2. 02

    Make it yours

Change the colors, module shape and margin, and upload your logo. The generator checks the contrast and protects readability.

  3. 03

    Download and test

Get the 1024 or 2048 px PNG for social media or the SVG for print. Scan it with two phones before you print.

02How it works

A good QR code looks great and scans on the first try

A QR code stores text in a grid of light and dark modules. What the phone does when it scans it depends on the format of that text: a web address opens the browser, WIFI: offers to join the network, BEGIN:VCARD saves a contact and BEGIN:VEVENT adds an event to the calendar. The generator builds those formats for you, with special characters properly escaped so they work on both iPhone and Android.

Every code is generated in your browser with our own encoder, which follows the ISO/IEC 18004 standard. They aren't dynamic codes from a platform that charges a monthly fee: they don't expire, don't show ads and don't depend on a third party staying in business. If you want to track how many times it's scanned, turn on Shorten it first: the code will point to a mercadomonkey.com short link that counts clicks per day.

Error correction lets a code be read even when it's partly covered or damaged: level L recovers about 7%, M 15%, Q 25% and H 30%. When you add a logo we use H and calculate how much data it covers in each block; if the logo is too big, we shrink it just enough for the code to stay readable.

Contrast is what fails most often in branded codes. Scanners expect dark modules on a light background; a pastel color on white or a light code on a dark background may not scan on many phones. That's why we warn you when contrast is low and recommend leaving a margin of 4 modules all around.

  • Nine content types

Link, WhatsApp, Wi-Fi, vCard, email, SMS, text, location and calendar event.

  • Colors, shape and logo

Square or rounded modules, your colors with a contrast warning and a center logo that protects readability.

  • High-res PNG and SVG

1024 or 2048 px PNG for digital and vector SVG for print, with no watermarks.

  • Trackable scans

Option to shorten the link first and count scans per day under My links.

  • No middlemen

Generated in your browser and never expires: it doesn't depend on a dynamic QR code platform.

  • ISO/IEC 18004 standard

Versions 1 to 40, four error correction levels and an automatically chosen mask.

04FAQ

What people ask us

Do QR codes expire?
No. The content is stored inside the code itself, so it works as long as the destination exists (your page, your number or your network). If you turn on Shorten it first, the code points to a mercadomonkey.com short link that doesn't expire either.
Can I add my logo without breaking the code?
Yes. When you upload a logo we use the highest error correction level (H) and calculate how much data it covers. If the size you picked would put readability at risk, we shrink it automatically and let you know. Even so, test the code with two phones before you print.
How big should a printed QR code be?
As a rule, each side of the code should be at least one tenth of the distance it's scanned from: 2 to 3 cm (about 1 in) on a business card, 10 cm (about 4 in) on a poster seen from 1 meter away, 30 cm (about 12 in) or more on a banner 3 meters away. Download the SVG so the print shop can scale it without losing sharpness.
How do I create a QR code to join Wi-Fi?
Choose Wi-Fi, enter the exact network name, the security type (almost always WPA/WPA2) and the password. When scanned, iPhone and Android offer to connect without typing anything. Use it for your guest network, since the password is stored inside the code.
Can I change where the code goes after printing it?
No: a static QR code can't be edited. If you think the destination will change, point the code to a page of yours that you can update, or ask us for a branded link shortener with editable destinations.
Does my data go through your servers?
No. The code is generated in your browser and nothing you type is sent, unless you turn on Shorten it first: in that case we send only the web address to create the short link.
