A Toronto dental clinic that Latino patients can actually find

Alma Dental Care is the practice of a Colombian dentist in Toronto who treats patients in Spanish and English, but on Google she was competing with hundreds of identical clinics. We rebuilt her bilingual website, worked on local SEO and set up online booking and a review workflow.

What were the results?

For Alma Dental Care, a Toronto dental clinic led by a Latin American dentist, we built a bilingual Spanish-English website, local SEO focused on searches like "Spanish-speaking dentist in Toronto", a review workflow and online appointment booking. In five months new patients rose 74% and reviews went from 58 to 211.

01The challenge

Where they started

The dentist studied in Bogotá, had her degree recognized in Ontario and opened her clinic six years ago in west Toronto. She has two chairs, a hygienist and a receptionist, and a clear advantage: she treats, in Spanish, a Latino community that often doesn't fully understand its treatment or its insurance in English.

Her website was an English template that didn't mention Spanish in a single heading. On Google Maps she ranked 14th for "dentist" in her area and didn't appear in Spanish-language searches at all. Appointments could only be booked by phone, during office hours.

02The solution

What we built

We built a bilingual website with hreflang, treatment pages (cleanings, whitening, clear aligners, implants, emergencies) in both languages and a section that explains in plain Spanish how dental insurance and Canada's federal dental care plan work.

For local SEO we worked on the Google Business Profile with the right category and language attributes, real photos, Q&A and consistent listings across Canadian directories. We added Dentist schema listing the languages spoken at the clinic, so Google and AI search engines understand it without guessing.

We integrated online booking with the scheduling software the clinic already used, showing real availability for each chair. After every appointment, a text message asks for a review with a direct link, in the patient's language, so the receptionist no longer has to remember to ask.

The numbers

In five months the clinic went from 27 to 47 new patients a month and ranks in the top three on Google Maps for Spanish-language dentist searches in Toronto. In English it climbed from 14th to 5th place for "dentist" in its area.

Online bookings reached 52 a month, and 37% are made at night or on weekends, when those opportunities used to be lost. With the automated workflow, reviews went from 58 to 211, many of them in Spanish.

“My patients told me how hard it had been to find a dentist who spoke Spanish. Now they find us on Google and book on their own, sometimes at eleven at night.”

Questions about this project

How can a dentist in Toronto attract Hispanic patients?
By saying so clearly on Google: a website in Spanish, a Google Business Profile with language attributes and reviews from Latino patients. Alma Dental Care did exactly that and grew new patients by 74% in five months.
Does a bilingual website help local SEO?
Yes, if each language has its own pages with hreflang and isn't a machine translation. That lets a dental clinic compete in Spanish-language searches, where there is less competition, without giving up the English ones.
How do you get more Google reviews without making patients uncomfortable?
With an automated message after the appointment, with a direct link and in the patient's language. At this Toronto clinic, reviews went from 58 to 211 without the front desk having to ask for them one by one.
